What on Earth is Web 3.0? A Skeptic’s Guide

There’s so much talk about cryptocurrency, blockchain, social tokens, NFTs and the metaverse. Put these together and you get what some people are calling Web 3.0.

But what on earth is all of this? Is this a new dawn in humanity - a new technology that is going to revolutionise how we all live? Or is this a bit like the Emperor’s New Clothes - some supposedly new and exciting thing that amounts to nothing?

In this episode, I’m going to attempt to dig into Web 3.0 from a beginners’ perspective - a skeptic’s guide. We’ll look at what underpins all of this - the blockchain. We’ll look at NFTs and more. And try and answer the question - what does all of this have to do with us, with our businesses and our marketing? Does it all even matter?

And, I’m very much at the start of my journey into all of this. I am a bit of a skeptic. But I’m also anxious not to be the guy in the 1990s that predicted that this “internet thing” was a passing fad. Let’s start this journey together!
